Gisela Train - Zell am See - Grossglockner
23rd May 2006

Tuesday 23rd May - We boarded the Gisela Train at St Johann in Tirol, this nostalgic train is formed of old style dark green carriages and is hauled by a elderly dark green electric locomotive, but on our trip the old loco had a fault and was replaced by an OBB Austrian Railways Red locomotive No 1044-098-0. We had a special stop at Leogang station to allow photos to be taken of the train. After arrival at Zell am See, free time was had for lunch and sightseeing before heading off on our coach for a scenic ride to Grossglockner (The Big Bell) unfortunately the clouds were shrouding the summit but there were still some magnificent sights to be seen including Marmots (Marmites)
